WiFi/Internet Resources for Students and Faculty
Emergency Internet Resources for Education
During the current global health crisis, it is critical that all Oklahomans have access to adequate and affordable internet services. Schools throughout the state will transition to online course work to complete the academic year. Oklahoma State Broadband Coordinator, Sonja Wall, is working directly with Oklahoma Broadband and Internet Service Providers to address needs throughout the state. In the document below, resources to aid Oklahoma residents and businesses are compiled and will be updated as more details become available. Emergency Internet Resources for Oklahomans

No Internet? Not enough Bandwidth? Here’s Plan B:
If students are unable to join a Zoom meeting via the app on the phone or computer, they can call in using just their phone - no internet required. In this scenario, they will not be able to see shared screens, but they will be able to listen. Their name will show up as a phone number. The host may rename the student's frame to make it easier to recognize when they are talking.
To join via phone (calling in rather than through the app):
The full Zoom Invite includes "One Tap Mobile." It will look like this:
One tap mobile
+16699009128,,455740303# US (San Jose)
+13462487799,,455740303# US (Houston)
Dialing one of these numbers includes the ID number. You won't have to enter anything else, so when asked for the ID number, just wait, and you will be entered into the meeting. If your instructor did not share the full invitation (many only share the Join Link) and you will need this option, please let them know. They will probably send you a full Invitation with multiple options. The option you are looking for is "One Tap Mobile."
Instructors, to rename a frame:
To make it easier to know who is talking when some students have dialed in, you may want to change the display name from their phone number to their name. To do this, click "Manage Participants" at the bottom. Click "More." Then click "Rename."
Students, if you use the dial in option and the screen was shared, be sure to watch the recording once it is posted.
Session Recordings
Students, it is easy to forget to record! It’s also easy to forget to post the recording. We are ALL human! If your session is being recorded, you will see a red dot that says “recording” next to it in the upper left corner of the window. If you notice the session is not being recorded, nicely remind your instructor to click record. Likewise, if it has not been posted with 24 hours, nicely let your instructor know you’d like to see it.
